The fourth graders at St. Thomas benefit from a supportive environment that fosters self-reliance and confidence while building upon and strengthening the academic skills learned from past teachers. In the classroom, fourth graders are expected to work in both independent and group settings. They enjoy a diverse curriculum that includes language arts, reading, math, science, social studies, and religion as well as P.E., Art, Spanish, Technology, Music, and Library. Our faith education establishes an atmosphere of mutual respect where students feel safe and motivated to learn.
As a teacher at St. Thomas the Apostle School, I believe in creating a positive classroom environment where all students are respected, encouraged and challenged to grow both academically and socially. Responsive Classroom techniques are utilized from the very first day of school to create a community of learners. I strive to make classroom learning effective by integrating various content areas through the exploration of S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) projects throughout the year. Through independent and group project assignments, students will develop the social and academic skills they need to become successful students in fourth grade.
