Fifth grade is such an exciting year! We will continue to build on the foundations from early elementary school, and now challenge each student to learn even more in each of the core subject areas. Read on to learn about a few highlights of our curriculum.

As followers of Jesus, we will learn much more about each of the sacraments in the Catholic Church. In language arts, we will learn to analyze and appreciate literature from all different genres through literature circles and discussion. We will also strengthen our writing skills in response to literature, while also being able to respond to a prompt. In math, we will have mastered basic facts, and now apply those facts to upper-level procedures as well multiple step problem solving equations. It is so important to make the connection between math and the real world. We will explore the United States dating back to the First Americans and hope to get as close to present day America as we can in geography, history, and government. In science, the students will participate in hands-on experiments in Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth/Space Science.

My goal is to support each student to reach their goals and to become lifelong learners. When you visit our classroom, you will find a class of thoughtful, motivated, and enthusiastic students ready to learn. Fifth graders will learn so much this year, and I am so excited to be a part of their discovery!
